Hello my lovelies,
Even though my “journey” started in Cuidad Juarez, MX, I decided to start you all with Guadalajara, MX.
Let’s begin by saying that everything from this point on that you have heard of Mexico and it’s people I for once would say it’s all not completly true. Key word there is “COMPLETELY”. Since of course in this world no matter where you go you will find bad people, and there’s bad places and you can’t escape it anyways. Something that people need to learn to do is actually experience things for themselves and then make an opinion of that place on your own.
Well the experience I took from Mexico I’m very glad to say that it was a very positive one! From the people, the food, music and of course TEQUILA! I have to said that one of the first things that I wanted to do in Mexico is go eat Tacos! And was I right! The food is very VERY tasty on another note, YES DO NOT DRINK THE WATER! If you can, always drink bottled water. But other then the water everything else is good. So where can you find good tacos to eat in Guadalajara? uhm pretty much anywhere! The place is packed with small hole in the wall places and they’re all pretty good! I do highly recommend the tacos al pastor every place that I stopped to try them they were the best ones! Don’t forget to wash the tacos down with a nice cold beer! So how much would my partner and I would spend stuffing ourselves silly with tacos and beer you ask? We spend around 20 pesos. Not bad huh!
Now in case you didn’t know Guadalajara is the birth place of Mariachi, theres even a plaza called Plaza de los Mariachis where you can go at night and you can pick up a Mariachi band hired them for an hour for just 2,000 pesos which is 150 dollars more or less!
I always asked the taxi drivers for suggestions of places to go check out or eat and one of the suggestions was the restaurant Casa Bariachi! This place was great! We got to the restaurant for the 9:30pm show, oh yes did I forgot to mention that dinner comes with a show! Mariachis and Folklorico dancers! But that was just the beginning the food there is amazing we order the Molcajete which is beef, chicken, shrimp, a huge slice of cheese among other amazing tasty things cooking in a spicy sauce that was simply amazing! Ok you see how I used amazing twice in one sentence! hahaha yes it’s that good! Then of course washed it all down with a beer or two. So then the Mariachis started playing so I asked the waiter to recommend me a good shot of tequila, he nods his head, smiles and then about 5 minutes later comes back with the most tasty drink concoction that have ever touched my lips. This was called, “LA BANDERA” so what did la bandera consist of well it was a shot of lime juice, a shot of 1800 añejo tequila and a shot of sangrita(orange, pomegranate, lime juice with chili sauce mix together) truly the best!
Now yes maricahis, tacos, shots of tequila mixed with a chili shot sounds all great! But I also I have to said that Guadalajara has a very rich history mixed with modern buildings and art.
I very much enjoyed my time in Guadalajara, and I hope to soon come back and enjoy myself another, “Bandera” while singing along to the Marichis playing…
